“The Viper” Randy Orton may only be 35 years old, but he’s still a veteran of the WWE game, having been an active competitor for the company since 2002.
During “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair’s recent podcast, the 16-time World Heavyweight Champion indicated that Orton was looking to work a reduced schedule in the near future.
It would be similar to the schedule WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels worked before he hung up his boots, as he’d perform at a number of shows before getting a decent amount of time off to recoup.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that Orton has had many weekends off this year, and that he’s in a steady financial situation where he doesn’t need to be on the road nearly as much.
Orton is coming off a loss to Sheamus at WWE “SummerSlam” this past Sunday, taking two Brogue Kicks before suffering the pinfall loss.
Editor’s Note
Orton is one of those guys you can always put in a main event spot, with fans always buying into it. However, there are several guys on WWE’s main roster that need more of the spotlight on them, so Orton taking time off – whether it’s weekly television or Live Events – wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
