Paige Reveals Why She Turned Heel

During a recent appearance on Chris Jericho’s “Talk is Jericho” podcast, WWE Diva Paige revealed why she enjoys working as a heel character and how her heel run came to be:

“Heel, oh my gosh, yeah. And with the babyface it’s really hard. Like, I’m a smiley person, like backstage or whatever, but when I go out there I can’t smile, like it’s impossible for me to smile without it looking incredibly fake. So I think Vince (McMahon) kind of saw that too and he was just like, with everything I was doing, ‘you’re a heel’. And I’m like ‘I don’t know what to say.’ Then Arn (Anderson) would be like that and Johnny (Laurinaitis) would be like ‘you work as a heel, the way you move is heel’ and I’m like ‘I know.”

Paige was recently ranked No. 1 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s “Female 50” list. She was ranked 12th in 2013.

Editor’s Note

I understand why she debuted as a face, although it’s clear as day that her character needs to be booked as a heel. Her look and personality fit it to a tee.
