On the Jan. 28 edition of “NXT” on the WWE Network, the team of Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy defeated Kalisto and Sin Cara of the Lucha Dragons to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

They’re now the sixth team to win the gold in the history of the brand, joining other teams like The Wyatt Family, The Ascension and British Ambition.

Moving forward, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy will be known as Blake and Murphy, cutting their first names completely out of the equation.

This is a move WWE has done with several other superstars in the past, such as Antonio Cesaro (Cesaro), Alexander Rusev (Rusev) and Big E. Langston (Big E).

Editor’s Note

Can no one have a first name anymore? Will Roman Reigns become Reigns after WrestleMania? If I were going to change Blake and Murphy’s name, I would come up with something clever and cool to help get them over. Something that adds more personality.
