According to a new report by PWInsider.com, employees of the WWE Network are said to be “walking on eggshells” due to there being no direction or strategy.
An example of this is when WWE ordered a special called “Cougar Countdown” on the career of Vickie Guerrero, although there were never any details given on when it was going to air.
World Wrestling Entertainment will be announcing an updated subscriber number on July 31. Many employees are worried for their jobs because several cuts are expected to take place shortly thereafter.
667,287 people had signed up for the Network as of April.
As far as viewership is concerned, with the exception of live pay-per-views, NXT specials and WWE “Main Event,” it’s being said that all other non-live programming isn’t drawing huge numbers.
Editor’s Note
The WWE Network airing overseas and in Canada will help their numbers immensely, but even so, the Network as a whole is underwhelming to say the least. Getting pay-per-views is its saving grace at this time. There is very little original programming to assist the special events. Things aren’t looking good.
