During a recent appearance on “The Steve Austin Show” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler claimed that Dolph Ziggler was partially responsible for the heart attack he suffered last year during an episode of Monday Night RAW.
During a tag team match that featured Lawler and Randy Orton vs. Ziggler and CM Punk, Ziggler would deliver ten straight elbow drops to Lawler, landing with all of his weight. Lawler remembered this thinking, “jeez, this guy’s trying to kill me.”
“Honestly, and I talked to my cardiologist about it, and he said, ‘absolutely, the trauma to my chest from those elbows could have been hard enough to knock your heart out of rhythm,’” Lawler said. “It would start slowly, and then get more and more and more out of rhythm until it just seized up.”
Lawler also mentioned that he’s had discussions with CEO Vince McMahon over possibly having a match somewhere down the road on RAW.
