Prior to the “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” special event, a series of matches were taped to air on the following edition of “NXT” programming.

One of those bouts was a Fatal 4-Way match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Emma, and Dana Brooke. Unfortunately for the Divas involved, the botched finish tarnished what was otherwise a half-decent outing.

Emma nailed Lynch in the corner with her signature crossbody into the bottom turnbuckle, leading to a pinfall victory for the young Aussie upstart. Referee Drake Wuertz counted Lynch’s shoulder’s down to the mat, despite that not being the way the finish was drawn up.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was actually Charlotte who was supposed to emerge victorious and not Emma. This explains why Charlotte stood tall following the encounter and not the woman who won the match.

The same report notes that there was no backstage heat on Wuertz, as WWE officials are always supposed to make the count no matter what the circumstances are. It’s on the competing performers to raise their shoulders at the appropriate time.

There also isn’t any heat on any of the four ladies, although they were extremely upset that the botch happened in the first place – especially Lynch.
