During a recent interview with Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, WWE superstar Daniel Bryan promoted ticket sales for WrestleMania 31 at Levi’s Stadium.
When asked about his injury status and when he might return to the ring, Bryan said the following:
“I’m not actually sure. No one really knows when I’ll be back. I’m hoping to be back in January and be ready for WrestleMania at Levi’s Stadium, but there’s no way to know. Right now, there’s contemplation to do a second surgery to my elbow, but we just don’t really know. We’re just doing our best to get me back and healthy.”
Bryan also discussed Hunter Pence of the San Francisco Giants stealing his “YES!” chant, as well as his beard-off with Josh Reddick of the Oakland Athletics.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been out of action since May after serious neck surgery to repair lingering nerve damage.
During tapings for “Friday Night SmackDown” on Oct. 28, Big Show announced to the crowd that Bryan would need another elbow surgery. Based off Bryan’s recent response, it would appear that there’s still a chance he doesn’t need to go under the knife again.
If he does undergo Tommy John surgery, that could keep him out of action until March of next year.
Editor’s Note
Yes! WWE programming needs Daniel Bryan back in such a bad way. The only way I’d be against an early return is if it jeopardized his long-term health. Competing at WrestleMania 31 is not worth hurting his chances of adding years to his career.
