At WWE “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17, Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena in the main event to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

According to PWInsider.com, a segment will take place later tonight on “Monday Night Raw” involving Lesnar being presented with a new championship belt.

It appears that the World Heavyweight Championship will be abolished, leaving the WWE Championship belt featuring the new company logo.

In an interview with TMZ.com after the “SummerSlam” pay-per-view, Lesnar revealed that he had no intention of carrying around two belts, all but confirming that the titles would in fact be merged sooner rather than later.

R.I.P. World Heavyweight Championship. A new company logo signals your long-awaited disposal. There’s no need for two belts. It’s the dawning of a new era in World Wrestling Entertainment.
