In October, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville shockingly made the decision to walk out of the company due to disagreements with his current status in the company. After reviving the cruiserweight division following a heel turn and feud with Rich Swann, Neville would continue to dominate the 205 Live roster – with the exception of a very brief title reign by Akira Tozawa – even picking up a series of wins against Austin Aries.
One of those wins was the pre-show of WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, which you can view below.
Towards the latter part of his WWE tenure, Neville was in a feud with Enzo Amore, who would defeat him at the No Mercy pay-per-view in September. Enzo would commence a heel turn following the win, and seemingly Neville was going to lead the pack to dethrone him.
While it was rumored that WWE picked up negotiations again with Neville, they apparently fell through. Despite Neville not being there to usurp his cruiserweight throne, Enzo is pleading for WWE to bring him back.
According to The Sun, Enzo stated that Neville is one of his “favorite pros in the business,” and carried NXT while he was champion. Enzo added, “When guys were catching red-eye flights from the west coast after Raw, Neville was driving on to the next town or taking an early morning flight. It’s the hardest schedule in pro wrestling because you are closing out 205 at the end of the week. I hope Neville comes back and we feud. I have never seen a guy work like he does.”
Enzo revealed that they were traveling buddies while in FCW and NXT, and thinks that he should return because “he might move better than anyone has ever moved in a ring.”
