There appears to be some surprising news developing. Current SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan, according to The Sun via Sportskeeda, could make his long-awaited return to the WWE Royal Rumble match. More surprisingly, the report is stating that WWE Creative has pitched the idea of him winning the match.
On March 29, 2015, Bryan competed in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara, CA. Bad News Barrett came into the multi-person ladder match, but Bryan would defeat Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, Luke Harper, and Stardust the commence his first reign as Intercontinental Champion.
He would also become a Grand Slam Champion, as he won the WWE Championship at SummerSlam in 2013, the United States Championship at Night of Champions in 2010, and the WWE Tag Team Championship with Kane at Night of Champions in 2012.
However, on the February 8, 2016 episode of Raw, Bryan declared his retirement due to injury. You can view the speech below.
In a recent interview, Brie Bella stated that Bryan has been cleared by several doctors to return to wrestling, and is just waiting on the clearance from WWE. Moreover, she stated that Bryan “wishes that he was in that ring,” and that he is trying to come back to wrestle.
If this report is authentic, not only will Bryan’s dreams come true, but he would either main-event WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans against most likely either Brock Lesnar or AJ Styles, in which both scenarios are must-see matches.
