In WWE, Hardy was a one-time world champion, having held the ECW Championship once.
Also, he won the United States, Cruiserweight, European, and Hardcore Championships.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked Matt Hardy #17 of the top 500 singles stars in 2003 PWI 500.
Hardy was dubbed “The Man Who Will Not Die” because of his positive attitude, as well as his perseverance in the ring. Specifically, he was known for frequently kicking out of harsh moves.
One great aspect of his career was the intensity of his feuds.
In 2005, Hardy won Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Feud of The Year for his rivalry with Edge and Lita.
Similarly, Matt and Jeff had three battles against one another, creating one of the best rivalries of the 2000s.
The two brothers tore the house down in an Extreme Rules match at WrestleMania XXV. This unbelievable bout was won by Matt.
On an episode of SmackDown!, Matt defeated Jeff in a Stretcher match.
The promos for their matches were very emotional and intensified, making each matchup all the more better.
Some more of Matt’s feuds include one with Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP). They went from being enemies, to partners, and back to enemies.
And in the midst of this feud, they were fighting for the United States Championship, which Hardy eventually won.
During his world title reign, Hardy was seen as the face of the ECW brand. As champion, Hardy had some quality matches against Mark Henry and Jack Swagger.
Matt left WWE in 2010, but he has indicated a future WWE return is possible.
Although he was never WWE Champion, Matt Hardy had a solid run in the singles division, in addition to his tag team work, of course.
