On Thursday, Jan. 15, “Smackdown” made the transition to Thursday evenings. The show, which as of this writing is just about to get underway, featured the in-ring return of Daniel Bryan. Additionally, it saw a championship match announced for the 2015 “Royal Rumble.”
According to PWInsider, the website got word from a WWE fan that the company will announce a WWE Tag Team Championship match on the Jan. 15 showing of “Smackdown.” In the second match, not including the 30-man Royal Rumble, to be confirmed for the January pay-per-view, The Usos will look to retain their gold against The Miz and Damien Mizdow.
On the Dec. 29 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” The Usos won the tag titles for the second time in their careers in a match against The Miz and Damien Mizdow. Miz and Mizdow originally won the belts at “Survivor Series,” making a successful title defense at the “TLC” pay-per-view. The short reign may be their only one, as recent reports note that Miz and Mizdow are expected so split in the near future.
Editor’s Note
I highly expect The Usos to retain in this bout. We could see the split of Miz and Mizdow in this match, but I’d rather see that occur in the Royal Rumble match itself.
