In order to receive input from its fans, WWE utilizes an abundance of surveys sent to fans on the company’s mailing list. WWE surveys the fans on a wide variety of things such as DVD projects, possible WWE Network shows, and WWE handheld games. According to PWInsider, WWE recently sent out a survey in regards to plans for the “SummerSlam” pay-per-view.
In particular, the survey asked, “if Brock Lesnar were to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at “SummerSlam,” who should he face?” Fans had seven WWE Superstars to choose from: John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, and Sheamus.
These are the same seven that will duke it out at “Money in the Bank” to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Following former champion Daniel Bryan’s forfeiture of the title, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder match for the pay-per-view was made.
A notable absence from the options was Bryan. Despite losing his title, there were rumors that he could be back in time for “SummerSlam.” At one point, plans for Bryan at the event would have him go one-on-one with the man who conquered The Streak at WrestleMania XXX, Brock Lesnar.
However, it now appears that Bryan will not face Lesnar at “SummerSlam.” The survey echoes previous reports that because of Bryan’s unknown injury status going forward, Lesnar will likely face the winner of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder match on June 29.
Editor’s Note
It definitely seems like Lesnar will be challenging whoever takes home championship gold at “Money in the Bank.” This may change people’s pick for the match, as I believe WWE will not have the odds-on favorite for the match, John Cena, battle Lesnar again. I think the spot will go to a young up-and-comer.
