On the Jan. 13 showing of “WWE Main Event,” live on the WWE Network, WWE announced that there will not be a new episode of the program next week. Tom Phillips made the announcement, stating that it is due to “contractual issues.” In its place, the WWE Network will air “Santino Marella’s Royal Rumble Lottery Spectacular.”
The special will air on Tuesday, Jan. 20, live on the WWE Network at 8 p.m. EST. As expected with such a name, the show will see various WWE Superstars receive their entrant number for the 30-man 2015 Royal Rumble match. It will be hosted by Santino Marella, who recently had a one-off return to WWE programming in December.
Additionally, during the showing of “Main Event,” Stardust and Goldust declared their entry into the 2015 Royal Rumble match.
As of this writing, the following are confirmed participants for the Royal Rumble match:
Roman Reigns
Daniel Bryan
Rusev
Bray Wyatt
Bad News Barrett
Dean Ambrose
Goldust
Stardust
Editor’s Note
I’m a bit curious if there are actual contractual issues surrounding “WWE Main Event.” Regarding the special, it’s nice to have a lottery for the year’s Royal Rumble, but I wish it were broadcasted on “Monday Night Raw” or “Smackdown.” Especially “Smackdown,” as that would have been a good selling point for the second Thursday evening showing of the program.
