Update on Batista’s WWE Return, WWE Sources Confirm, One Date Added

As we previously reported on Friday night, Batista will be making a “special return” to WWE in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 14, 2014. While some believe that his return may be a one-time deal for a special live event, there are now reports to the contrary. According to PWInsider, our previous report is indeed correct and WWE sources have confirmed Batista will be returning to the WWE.

The report states that the ticketing website’s advertisement for Batista was premature and spoiled WWE’s surprise return of “The Animal.” WWE was planning on shocking the world and having the two-time WWE Champion return at Royal Rumble, which will be aired live on pay-per-view on January 26, 2014 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Batista, now 44 years-old had been in discussion with WWE COO Triple H in July of 2013. However, Batista’s newfound acting schedule made it difficult to reach a deal.

One of PWInsider’s sources speculated that Batista will be back in WWE for quite some time as it is believed he will be there until he has to promote his upcoming film, Guardians. The movie is set to be released in theatres on August 1, 2014.

Wrestlezone.com also spoke with a WWE source who stated that it is likely that promo videos for his return begin airing sometime in the coming weeks.

Along with that, Batista is now being advertised for another WWE live event. Representatives from the Phoenix Suns of the NBA are promoting Batista to be at the US Airways on February 15, 2014. This is the day before the premature report of his “special return.” PWInsider is also reporting that more dates will be added, but are not sure whether they will be announced now.

Batista left the WWE in 2010 the night after he lost to John Cena in an “I Quit” match at Over the Limit. He later stated during 2010 that he left the WWE because he did not like the direction WWE was going, especially with its PG product.
