With TNA in an uncertain state and Kurt Angle’s contract with the company expired, there have been many rumors as to where the former Olympic gold medalist will land. Angle recently stated that he is open to a WWE return, but it all depends on what the company wants out of him. There have also been numerous reports that Vince McMahon has kept in contact with Angle, but Triple H does not want Angle back aboard.
PWInsider has published a notable update on the situation. The website reported that with Angle’s contract expired, WWE has offered him a full-time deal to return to WWE. However, Angle reportedly turned it down because he does not think his body can handle a full-time schedule, echoing past thoughts. Similarly, Randy Orton recently reworked his deal with WWE to cut down on a full-time schedule.
However, the website also noted that Angle could very well stick around with TNA, if the company rebounds and stays afloat. Angle reportedly has a close relationship with Dixie Carter and the company as a whole. Angle believes that Carter and TNA were a big part in him fighting off personal demons throughout the past couple of years.
Angle had been with TNA since September of 2006, but it obviously remains to be seen if Angle will stay in TNA. Angle had about an eight year tenure with WWE, prior to joining TNA. There, he was a six-time world champion, its 10th Triple Crown Champion, and its fifth Grand Slam Champion.
Editor’s Note
Completely understandable that Angle doesn’t want a full-time deal. Hopefully he and WWE can work things out, perhaps with a deal similar to Orton’s.
