In a recent report by PWInsider, the website is reporting WWE’s reasoning behind keeping mum on the CM Punk situation in terms of the public eye. Internally, WWE officials have begun to put less emphasis on Punk as they believe he is not returning to WWE anytime soon. One of the reasons that WWE chose to not put Punk down on its programing is because Vince McMahon has a close and personal relationship with Punk. As previously reported, Vince McMahon is keen on having Punk return to WWE.

In addition to Vince McMahon having an impact on WWE’s current public attitude towards Punk, PWInsider also noted it has to do with the money and time invested in Punk. WWE currently has the “CM Punk” name out in many stores and other places, so the company wants to protect him as best it can until he is no longer associated with WWE.

As previously reported, CM Punk’s contract with WWE is set to expire in July. Assuming Punk does not re-sign with the company, July will likely mark the time in which WWE publicly acknowledges the situation. Additionally, once Punk’s ties are cut with WWE in July, the “Best in the World” is free to go to work for any other company that he chooses to.
