As we previously reported, WWE Superstar Randy Orton has landed a role in WWE Studios’ “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey.” Orton has been cast as the main star in the sequel to a 2007 film, which starred “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The project is part of six low-budget movies that WWE Studios and Lionsgate will be collaborating on. Their other projects have seen a variety of WWE stars hit the big screen. Among them are Dean Ambrose, Hornswoggle, Big Show, and Kane.
As is the case when a WWE talent stars in a motion picture, he or she will miss a noticeable chunk of WWE programming. In what may very well be a move in accordance to Orton’s role in “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey,” “The Viper” has been removed from WWE’s upcoming European tour, per advertisements on WWE.com. The tour, which starts on Wednesday, Nov. 5, previously had Orton slated to face a returning Chris Jericho during events with “Y2J.” Now, with Orton no longer advertised, Bray Wyatt has been inserted into that spot.
Additionally, on WWE.com, Orton is not advertised for three episodes of “Monday Night Raw” in November. Orton will appear on the next showing of “Raw,” on Nov. 3. However, for the rest of the month, Orton is not advertised for a showing of WWE’s flagship program. Also, for what it’s worth, Orton is not advertised for “Survivor Series” an event which emanates from his hometown, St. Louis, Missouri. Orton can always be added to these shows, but eventually, he will miss WWE programming due to his role in “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey,” according to the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Editor’s Note
This is to be expected with Orton taking on a film project. I wonder if he is written off television in some manner on the Nov. 3 “Raw,” and possibly chooses a team for the “Survivor Series” main event between Team Authority and Team Cena.
