While Seth Rollins wrestled in the main event of “Monday Night Raw” on Feb. 9, it was not the best of nights for the current holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase. Rollins, 28, was involved in a nude photo scandal, which saw two photos of himself leaked through his fiancée, Leigha Schultz. Prior to that, just before “Raw” went on the air, Rollins’ social media accounts posted a nude photograph of developmental Diva Zahra Schreiber, which would be quickly deleted.
While a prior report noted that Rollins may not be in hot water with WWE, a report from Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, who claims to be a former WWE employee, stated that Rollins may still face some ramifications.
The report from the user noted that Rollins will likely be fined “a very small” amount of money for his role in the scandal. WWE’s reasoning for such a fine is due to its belief that Rollins, albeit accidentally, leaked the photo of Zahra Schreiber. The decision to fine Rollins likely came from Vince McMahon, who thought somebody needed to be held responsible, with Rollins being the only candidate subject to punishment. On the contrary, Triple H reportedly vouched for Rollins to not receive a fine.
Additionally, because of the media attention this scandal has created, some people within WWE believe Rollins may face stiffer consequences. There is a belief that Rollins will not be WWE World Heavyweight Champion any time soon, despite a plan on the table that would have seen Rollins successfully cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase in June.
The traction this issue has brought WWE also led to a brief company wide meeting being held prior to “Smackdown” tapings on Feb. 10. WWE reinforced its social media policy, informing talent to delete any “risky” photos from his or her cell phone immediately.
Editor’s Note
Would be a shame to see Rollins face any sort of consequences in regards to his push. While the ordeal gave WWE a bit of a black eye, it should blow over in due time. There will always be more pressing issues at hand for the company to gauge.
