On Tuesday, May 5, WWE taped the May 7 edition of “Smackdown” from Canada’s capital Ottawa, Ontario.
Below are spoilers for the May 7 “Smackdown:”
The show kicked off with King Bad News Barrett, who was being interviewed by Jerry “The King” Lawler. After bullying Lawler around for a bit, Barrett threatened to strike him with a “Bull Hammer.” Dolph Ziggler then interrupted, saving Lawler from any harm.
1) Dolph Ziggler def. King Barrett via disqualification- The two would end up competing in singles action, but the match would be short lived. Sheamus ran interference, creating a double team attack on Ziggler. To a big pop, Neville entered to make the save.
2) Dolph Ziggler and Neville def. King Barrett and Sheamus- Following the attack, the four men clashed in tag team action. In what the crowd perceived as a tremendous match, the babyfaces prevailed.
3) Luke Harper def. Fandango- After Harper made quick work of Fandango, Erick Rowan made his way to the ring. As Harper looked on, Rowan continued to inflict punishment on Fandango.
Next, Lana entered to a favorable reaction. However, she would be cut off by a seething Rusev. He proceeded to cut a promo on John Cena, who Rusev vowed will pay next week on “Monday Night Raw.”
4) The New Day def. Ryback, Cesaro, and Tyson Kidd- After a lot of back-and-forth action, the lights went out. The outage, caused by Bray Wyatt, distracted Ryback, who in turn, lost the match for his team.
5) Naomi (w/ Tamina Snuka) def. Emma- After the match, Naomi and Tamina continued to beat down a helpless Emma.
6) The Lucha Dragons def. Los Matadores
The final segment was a contract signing between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and Dean Ambrose for their Fatal 4 Way title match at “Payback.” Kane introduced the four stars, while cutting a promo in the process. The latter three stars made their way to the ring, while the titleholder Rollins refused. Rollins requested that Kane sign the contract on his behalf. Kane refused, to the dismay of Rollins, who ended up signing the contract alongside his foes. Ambrose flipped over the table, igniting a brawl. In the end, “Smackdown” closed with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins standing tall.
