As previously reported on Thursday, May 7, it was revealed that WWE is working feverishly on an Owen Hart DVD and Blu-ray set, which contains a documentary main feature. In the previous report, courtesy of WrestlingDVDNews.comit was noted that the Owen Hart project had the backing of his widow, Martha Hart, and The Hart Family.

However, it appears that the longstanding issues between Martha Hart and WWE have not been resolved. Upon the news getting out, Martha Hart issued a statement to WrestlingDVDNews.comclearing up the misconception that she and her children back the project.

Martha Hart wrote:

“My children and I were unaware of this project until May 7, when it was brought to our attention by a friend who had read about it online. Contrary to your report, we do not back or support it in any way, nor has WWE requested our backing or support. From what little we know of the project, it seems to be another attempt to exploit Owen’s memory, and his tragic death, for commercial gain. We have resisted that kind of initiative for almost 16 years. If WWE really wanted to honor Owen’s legacy, it would just let him rest in peace.”

Editor’s Note

Welp, that’s a shame. I don’t know why WWE would go forward with the project, without full support from Martha Hart and her children.
