Through a post on his official Facebook page, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley says Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch are set to possibly put on the “match of the year” at “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” on May 20. As previously reported, Banks is slated to defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Lynch during the event.

Foley, who admitted that he is historically closer to the women in WWE than the other guys in the back during his “Cheap Pops” special on the WWE Network, thinks that the two NXT divas are in a prime position to impress and make a statement. He writes,

“I’m going out on a limb here and predicting #BeckyLynch and Sasha Banks will have a #MatchOfTheYear type of contest on May 20 at #NXTTakeover. (No pressure at all ladies.)

I just get the feeling that both women are at the right place, at the right time, with the right combination of skills, character, and in-ring chemistry to pull it off.

One of my GREAT regrets is that I didn’t make it to the WWE NXT show in #SanJose during #Mania week, for what I heard was a sure fire contender for Match of the Year with Sasha and Ms Charlotte. No doubt about it, 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for #WomensWrestling”

Coming off the heels of the “#GiveDivasAChance” movement, WWE is aiming to give their female talent more of a spotlight when it comes to their programs and matches. While the main roster struggles with giving their Divas time to work, NXT thrives on it. The last four “NXT TakeOver” events have all featured lengthy and amazing matches put on by superstars such as Charlotte, Banks, Bayley, Lynch, and Natalya.

With many male NXT superstars getting injured in recent weeks, “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” may see a facelift in terms of the match line-up. Some are saying that Banks vs. Lynch should, and could, make a big statement as the main event of the show if Sami Zayn is indeed out for six-to-eight weeks and can’t face Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship during the show.

Editor’s Note:

It would be a good move on WWE’s part to adapt and make that match the main event IF Zayn can’t compete. I kind of feel like they’re waiting to see if Zayn feels “ok” enough to at least work that match before he rest and allows his shoulder to heal completely.
