WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was the subject of a recent feature on Sports Illustrated. Within the piece, Austin spoke on his current standing with WWE, in addition to many other WWE topics.

“The Texas Rattlesnake” shot down rumors that he and WWE, specifically Vince McMahon, are at odds:

“Lately there’s been a lot of speculation regarding all this heat, bad blood, and animosity between myself and Vince. And it couldn’t be any further from the truth. I have an outstanding relationship with Vince and the WWE right now. There were a few trademark issues, but that was just a minor thing that got resolved in a very amicable conversation I had with their lawyers.”

“So many things get said only because people want to throw the names ‘Steve Austin’ and ‘Vince McMahon’ out there so others will think it to be true. But I’m here to tell you, it’s not true. There are some great things coming up.”

Continuing, Austin discussed his relationship with “The Chairman:”

“At times he’s been like a father figure, a brother, a mentor, a best friend, and an enemy. That was a short window of time when I say enemy, but we were at odds every now and again. This is a high-stakes business that is extremely personal.”

“Vince barely sleeps. He will outwork anybody I’ve ever met. He’s built an empire and worked his ass off to do it. No one ever handed him anything. The vision and the guts that he’s had – I can’t say enough about the guy. I have total respect for him.”

Austin has not been in a wrestling ring since his surprise appearance at WrestleMania XXX. He did not attend WrestleMania 31, despite reports that WWE expected his arrival. With the location of WrestleMania 32, Arlington, Texas, being close to home for Austin, he expects to be there:

“There was no creative for me at WrestleMania XXXI. Now with WrestleMania XXXII coming up in Texas, I would be pretty damn sure I’m going to be there. It’s my home state and it just makes more sense.”

Be sure to check out the full story, here. Austin also teases a big announcement, talks about the current WWE product, and recalls his appearance at WrestleMania XXX.
