As noted on Tuesday, Oct. 28, during tapings for the Halloween “Smackdown” special, WWE announced that Daniel Bryan needed a second surgery on his elbow. The company made the announcement in a unique way, having the “Smackdown” tapings open with an off-air in-ring segment with Big Show. It would be Show that announced the news, and encouraged fans to chant “YES” because it was being recorded to send to Bryan as a get well message.
Two days later, on Thursday, Oct. 30, WWE made a huge announcement to go along with its third quarter earnings report. The company announced that it would be doing away with six month commitment plans for the WWE Network, meaning subscribers would only have to pay $9.99 for whatever months they desire. Additionally, it was noted that new subscribers would get the entire month of November, including 2014’s “Survivor Series,” for free. To go along with the announcement, Vince McMahon himself recorded a video about the news.
The Oct. 31 showing of “Smackdown” would open with the aforementioned video by Vince McMahon, which was portrayed to be shown on the titantron. The video closed with McMahon doing “Yes” chants, so WWE piped in the thunderous “Yes” chants from the off-air segment with Big Show.
Editor’s Note
So that’s why the video with McMahon awkwardly ended with “Yes” chants.
