Former UFC Middleweight star Chael Sonnen has launched a new show through Podcast One called You’re Welcome With Chael Sonnen.

During a recent episode, Sonnen went into detail about how Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment had offered him a hefty sum to leave the Ultimate Fighting Championship (which he was under contract to at the time) and come work for them.

That offer was eventually turned down.

I was offered $5 million by Vince McMahon……Now, I was still under contract with the UFC and I never took this to Dana. I handled it on my own. I told them ‘No’ and that was the end of that. I never told Dana White this story, but here’s why I didn’t tell him.

I knew if I called Dana and said, ‘I’ve got a $5 million offer from Vince McMahon,’ Dana would have matched it. I don’t think anyone would have had hard feelings but I didn’t see myself that way.

Dana would have come close and all of a sudden I’m not a loyal employee. I’m not loyal to the UFC. I’m shopping them and I’m being loyal to myself. That’s business. That’s how that works and I don’t think anyone would have had hard feelings but I didn’t see myself that way.

Editor’s Note

Well thank goodness this never came to fruition. I’m a big fan of Sonnen and the lack of a filter he has between his brain and mouth, but in no way, shape or form is he worth that kind of money to a company that has no real use for him in the first place.
