WWE Superstar David Otunga was inactive as an in-ring competitor for much of 2014. In fact, his only match on WWE programming came at WrestleMania XXX. Otunga was part of the 2014 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, in which Cesaro reigned supreme.

On Friday, Jan. 9, PWInsider reported David Otunga will make his WWE return from a lengthy absence here in 2015. The website noted that Otunga will return to the squared circle during WWE’s weekend live events, spanning from Jan. 9 to Jan. 11. Otunga was indeed flown to Chattanooga, Tennessee, home of a WWE live event on Jan. 9. At the house show, Otunga teamed with Titus O’Neil, losing to Los Matadores in tag team action.

Otunga had been taking the time off to spend time with his wife, Jennifer Hudson, and their son. As reported in May of 2014, Otunga’s WWE status was up in the air reportedly due to Hudson. Hudson was rumored to not like her husband’s WWE career, and would prefer he take a job in law, in order to remain home with their son.

Editor’s Note

I doubt that we see the former WWE Tag Team Champion back on WWE programming any time soon. Perhaps he was flown in because WWE is presumably paying him to do nothing.
