On the latest edition of “Monday Night Raw,” two matches were made official for the 2014 “Hell in a Cell” pay-per-view on Oct. 26 in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center. In an announcement made by The Authority, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, at “Hell in a Cell,” John Cena and Dean Ambrose will compete in a qualifying match in which the winner will face Seth Rollins in the demonic cell structure.
The Authority confirmed past reports on what WWE had planned for “Hell in a Cell,” with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar not in the picture for the event. Only two things remain to be seen in regards to the main event. For one, the status of the loser for the qualifying match has not been announced. The previous report noted that the loser, whether it be Cena or Ambrose, could face Randy Orton, or be the “keeper of the key” to the Hell in a Cell. Additionally, it is not known if Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank Briefcase will be on the line in the main event.
Advertisements in Dallas for “Hell in a Cell” have shed some light on the main event plans for “Hell in a Cell.” According to those in the area, ads have aired with this blurb:
“Come see either John Cena or Dean Ambrose take on either Seth Rollins or Randy Orton in 1 of 2 Hell In a Cell matches.”
If the ad is correct, the loser of the match between Cena and Ambrose will take on Orton in a second Hell in a Cell match. However, only time will tell if this is indeed the case, as WWE has not confirmed the plans for the loser of the qualifying bout.
Editor’s Note
While I’m not a fan of the plan, it’s one of the few things WWE can do with its small crop of healthy main event talent. I really hope WWE pulls the trigger on some closure with Ambrose and Rollins, even if it means Cena and Orton have to go one-on-one again.
