Lucha Underground is a new professional wrestling-based television series that’s set to debut on the El Ray Network.

With the backing of Mark Burnett, the show will debut at the end of the month on Oct. 29.

Several superstars from both WWE’s past and the independent circuit are signed on to the project, including John Morrison, Matt Striker, Brian Cage, Chavo Guerrero, Konnan and Shawn Hernandez.

Former WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio, who recently appeared at AAA’s “TripleMania” event on Aug. 16, is also slated to appear on Lucha Underground as well.

At the first television tapings on Oct. 5 in Los Angeles, the company crowned their first champion in Prince Puma, according to PWInsider.com.

Prince Puma is actually independent star Ricochet working under a mask.

Editor’s Note

Say what you will about these new upstart wrestling promotions emerging out of nowhere, but in a world where WWE is the end all be all of the business, more places to work means more jobs and more competition.
