Since CM Punk departed from WWE in January of 2014, he has kept his public appearances few and far between. He appeared on an edition of AMC’s “Talking Dead” in March, and would not speak publicly on his WWE departure until late May. Punk would then make another public appearance on July 21, hosting the premiere Alternative Press Music Awards.
The “Best in the World” reportedly attended his first wrestling event since his WWE departure in early October, attending an Ohio Valley Wrestling event. According to OVW Director of Television Michael Baldwin, Punk was there to spend time with Danny Davis, the territory’s owner and good friend of Punk.
Not too long following word getting out about Punk’s time at OVW, another Punk appearance that had ties to wrestling was made public. Punk appeared briefly on the Oct. 16 edition of the “Art of Wrestling” podcast, which is hosted by Punk’s long-time friend Colt Cabana.
Punk’s appearance was short and sweet, and within the first couple of minutes of the podcast. Punk was on the podcast in order poke fun at Cabana, and crack some jokes. During his time on the show, nothing related to wrestling was discussed. The podcast was taped from Punk’s house, as early on, while Punk was still on, Cabana noted that he was at a “friend’s house” in Chicago. Cabana then told Punk his house has too many doors, and the two began to banter.
Cabana would end up jokingly asking Punk if there’s anything he wanted to say publicly. Punk proceeded to ask Cabana when the podcast would air. Cabana informed Punk it would be released Thursday, Oct. 16, “tomorrow,” leading Punk to state he has nothing to say at the moment.
Listen to the entire podcast, here. As noted, Punk’s appearance is early on. He does banter with Cabana for a decent amount of time, and talks about recently repairing a door in his home.
Editor’s Note
Only thing that is noteworthy here is Punk asking the date of release for the podcast. Who knows if he had a reason for asking that, or if he just wanted to work the fans.
