It appears that Batista won’t be coming back to WWE anytime in the near future. Though, eventually, he will be back. The latest word from those within WWE is that Batista, in addition to Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, will return to WWE in time for WrestleMania season in 2015.
Following the success of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which saw Batista get high praise for his performance as Drax, he has landed another big-time movie role. According to a report from Deadline.com, Batista will c0-star in Robert De Niro’s “Bus 657” project. In addition to Dave Bautista, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kate Bosworth, and Gina Carano will star in the film.
“Bus 657” is a heist flick with a budget of around $15 million. The film will see Morgan play a father who cannot pay for his daughter’s medical bills scheming a heist with Bautista, a greedy co-worker. Their plan to rob a casino, and then hijack a bus full of hostages goes awry. De Niro will take on the role of the casino’s owner, and Bosworth will be his daughter. Filming for “Bus 657” will begin on Oct. 13 of this year in Mobile, Alabama.
In June, Batista had been rumored for a return around the time of “SummerSlam” or “Night of Champions,” but nothing came to fruition. However, as time went by, it would become apparent that Batista would not be returning in the fall season, or even in 2014.
Editor’s Note
Batista’s movie career is definitely picking up some steam. After it looked like he would be back in a full-time role when he first re-signed with WWE, it’s now clear that he’s just another part-timer. I wonder how WWE feels all about this. It’s in desperate need of main event stars, and it lost one to the film industry.
