Upon Chris Jericho’s return to WWE in June of 2014, it did not take long for Bray Wyatt to feast his eyes upon “Y2J.” The two would end up clashing at “Battleground,” which saw Jericho emerge victorious. In a rematch at “SummerSlam,” Wyatt would come out on top this time around.
PWInsider has published a report with some backstage news in regards to the feud, and how it will continue to “Night of Champions.” The website reported that heading into their encounter at “SummerSlam,” WWE officials operated under the idea of making the match all about building up Bray Wyatt.
Interestingly enough, Wyatt was also slated to do the same at “Battleground.” However, Vince McMahon reportedly stepped in, changing the finish of the match. Instead of Wyatt reigning victorious at the event, McMahon had Jericho go over.
The website’s report goes on to hit on a potential rematch between the two at “Night of Champions.” With the two each receiving a win in a traditional match, they will likely square off again at “Night of Champions,” but this time, there will be some sort of stipulation. With Jericho set to return to touring with Fozzy in September, “Night of Champions” will likely mark the end of Jericho’s current run in WWE.
Editor’s Note
The two had a much better match at “SummerSlam.” The rubber match at “Night of Champions” can be a tremendous way to build Wyatt up even more, and write Jericho off of WWE programing.
