During the WWE “SummerSlam” Kickoff show on Sunday night, Rob Van Dam defeated Cesaro with a Five-Star Frog Splash.

According to a report by PWInsider.com, that is expected to be RVD’s last match with the company for quite some time.

The fact that he emerged victorious against Cesaro is peculiar because when superstars exit WWE, they’re usually booked to lose. Not in this case, though.

RVD is not scheduled to appear on “Monday Night Raw” later tonight, nor will he be at the “Friday Night SmackDown” tapings.

We here at WrestlingRumors.net reported on Aug. 13 that RVD was set to take time off following “SummerSlam” as his contract has him working in 90-day intervals.

This allows Van Dam to work on outside projects while also maintaining a strong relationship with WWE.

Editor’s Note

No one on the WR staff picked RVD to beat Cesaro on Sunday. We’ve become so accustomed to watching him lose that the prospect of him winning seemed asinine. Shows how much we know, eh? Nice swerve, WWE.
