As seen on the past two weeks of both “WWE Smackdown” and “Monday Night Raw,” The Shield have turned babyface against on-screen WWE Director of Operations Kane. The latest edition of “WWE Smackdown,” on March 21, hinted at The Shield facing Kane and The New Age Outlaws in a six-man tag-team match.
A recent report by Dave Meltzer on F4WOnline has shed some light on why The Shield has remained intact and seemingly turned babyface in the process. The current plan still calls for The Shield to break up at some point, with Roman Reigns coming out as a monster babyface, while Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins form a heel tag-team.
As to why The Shield is likely building to a match with Kane and The New Age Outlaws for WrestleMania XXX, there are two apparent reasons for the change of plans. For one, it is allowing The New Age Outlaws to work with The Shield, something that both Billy Gunn and Road Dogg requested. Additionally, the new plans are to improve upon Reigns’ eventual push as a singles star.
You could have caught this news a bit earlier in the week as our own Doug McDonald elaborated on this booking on a recent edition of “Wrestling Rumors Radio.” You can listen to Mr. McDonald’s episode on both iTunes and Stitcher.
