On the Oct. 6 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” The Authority made the first two matches for “Hell in a Cell” official. In a qualifying match, John Cena and Dean Ambrose will go one-on-one, with the victor getting a crack at Seth Rollins inside the cell structure. More information about the main event would be revealed in local advertisements in Dallas, the location of “Hell in a Cell.” The ads stated that Randy Orton would face the loser of the qualifying bout in another Hell in a Cell match, the second and presumably only other cell match on the card.
During the recently taped 15th “Smackdown” anniversary special, more information was revealed about the match between John Cena and Dean Ambrose. During a “face-off” between the two on MizTV, Miz revealed an added stipulation to the match. The bout will be a Contract-on-a-Pole Match, which means no pinfalls, no submissions, no disqualifications, and no holds barred. The only way someone can win, is to climb the turnbuckle and retrieve the contract.
The contract, obviously, will be for the right to challenge Seth Rollins inside the Hell in a Cell. What remains to be seen is if Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank Briefcase will be on the line in the match. It it also still not confirmed if Randy Orton will indeed face the loser of the qualifying match.
Editor’s Note
This is a good way to have Cena lose without getting pinned, but still. What a terrible stipulation.
