Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman was originally supposed to happen shortly after the ex-Wyatt Family member debuted on WWE television, but at the time, company officials felt that he wasn’t ready for it. But now he’s clearly ready for it, and it does look like he’s going to get a Universal Championship shot at some point in the near future.

Some are under the impression that Lesnar vs. Strowman is going to be the main event of the upcoming Payback pay-per-view, but, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that isn’t the case, although WWE does want to do the match soon.

Lesnar isn’t being advertised for any upcoming WWE shows, nor is he being advertised for Payback. So it looks like the Universal Championship will be put on ice for at least the next month.

Braun Strowman puts Brock Lesnar on notice: Raw, April 3, 2017

As for what’ll be the show’s main event, well, it’ll either be the United States Championship match [Owens vs. Jericho or Owens vs. Balor], or it’ll be Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns.
