At the moment, it doesn’t seem like WWE has anything big planned for Finn Balor in the immediate future, as he’s feuding with The Drifter on Raw. The two are set to face each other at next month’s Great Balls of Fire show, but it might not be a one and done match.
When asked about WWE’s plans for Balor at SummerSlam on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggested two possible matches for the Demon King: a rematch with Elias Samson, or a match with Bray Wyatt. Of the two, I’m hoping for the latter.
“I don’t know where [Finn Balor] would fit in on the show. It could be Bray Wyatt, it could be The Drifter in a rematch, it could be something else.”
We do know that Roman Reigns will challenge for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, which means that Finn Balor won’t be in the title picture until after the event. Of course, plans could change, and WWE could decide to book Balor against Brock Lesnar or Samoa Joe, however, that probably won’t happen.
Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor has been a match that WWE fans have been dying to see ever since Finn Balor debuted the Demon persona in NXT. Shortly after Balor returned from injury, WWE teased a future match between he and Wyatt, but the match didn’t end up happening.
It doesn’t seem like Bray has an obvious opponent for SummerSlam either, so WWE could very well put him against Finn Balor.
We also know that WWE is trying to make this year’s SummerSlam as big as possible, and a Balor vs. Elias Samson rematch wouldn’t exactly help their cause. But, stranger things have happened.
Do you think we’ll see Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam? Who would you like to see Balor in the ring with this coming August? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Facebook!
