Earlier this week, former WWE commentator and current ESPN anchor Jonathan Coachman sent out a tweet, where he said that, in his opinion, Kurt Angle is the greatest in-ring competitor in the history of pro wrestling.

On Wednesday’s SportsCenter, Coach asked Angle about his skill inside the ring, and who he thinks is the greatest in-ring competitor in WWE history. Here’s what our Olympic Hero had to say.

“It’s an honor [to be called the greatest ever]. I’m not gonna complain about it. But I will tell you this, it’s all opinions. I think your opinion means a lot to me, but there are a lot of people out there that think that Triple H, or Stone Cold Steve Austin, or The Rock, or even John Cena is the greatest of all time. Do I believe I’m the greatest of all time? No. I look at guys like Shawn Michaels that really paved the way for me, and being in the ring with him, he showed me what it’s all about, especially wrestling someone for the first time. Shawn and I wrestled our first time at WrestleMania. I think that shows how good both of us really are.”

As Angle mentioned, he and Michaels wrestled each other for the very first time back at WrestleMania 21, and it’s remembered as being one of the very best matches in WWE history.
