WWE made the long-rumored AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon match official on this past Tuesday’s SmackDown, as Shane said that he was going to be AJ’s WrestleMania opponent in the show’s closing segment.
There are a ton of reasons why WWE is doing Shane vs. AJ at WrestleMania, but the most significant one comes from the latest report by Cageside Seats, which says that AJ’s feud with Shane will lead to him getting sent to Raw following WWE’s biggest show of the year.
On Wednesday’s Figure Four Daily, Bryan Alvarez predicted that WWE will send AJ Styles to Raw following Mania, and in exchange, SmackDown will get Seth Rollins.
“[WWE] has taken AJ Styles off of the SmackDown roster, and they moved him to the alumni area. Now, the big question next week is, will Shane McMahon rehire him? Or are they gonna have a match at Mania, and then AJ Styles is going to sign with Monday Night Raw? This is a very, very important question, because unless they do a trade, which doesn’t make any sense, why would Raw give up somebody if they guy’s been fired? They should be happy to take him and not give anything to SmackDown. Can you imagine this SmackDown roster without AJ Styles?
“The only thing that makes sense if Seth Rollins shows up at WrestleMania — Hunter warned him: ‘do not show up at WrestleMania or it’s gonna be the last thing you ever do in this business. So, Seth has gotta show up at Mania, beat the hell out of Hunter, and then on Raw the next day he’s gotta get fired, and then you move him to SmackDown, AJ moves to Raw, and there’s your even trade.”
