The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that John Cena will not be in the ring with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. Now, the question is, who will the former fifteen time WWE World Heavyweight Champion face on April 2?
According to Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Online, we’ll know exactly who John Cena’s opponent will be at WrestleMania 33 immediately following this Sunday’s Royal Rumble. So, that could mean that Cena is scheduled to win the World Heavyweight Championship, and he’ll end up facing whoever the winner of the Royal Rumble is.
The latest Royal Rumble odds suggest that the SmackDown superstar who has the highest chances of winning the Rumble is Randy Orton, and it’s highly unlikely that WWE will do Cena vs. Orton at WrestleMania 33.
Samoa Joe, who hasn’t yet debuted on the main roster, is one the favorites to win the Rumble, according to Odds Checker. So, there’s a strong chance that Joe could challenge Cena for the WWE Title after he wins Sunday’s main event.
One name that isn’t listed in the odds is Kenny Omega, who, as of right now, is a free agent. Cena has been teasing a potential match up with the now former New Japan star on his Instagram page. So, will we see Cena vs. Omega at WrestleMania 33? Let’s hope so!
