The former CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling star is considered a major signing by WWE, and there are plans in place for La Sombra to become a huge star in NXT and eventually in WWE.
According to F4WOnline.com, there are many reports of WWE signed La Sombra with the intention of pushing him as a major Latino star because his backstage demeanor is said to be very professional and he isn’t likely to stall or derail his career with backstage issues.
Sombra also speaks English very well, and WWE will most likely push him as an enormous potential superstar for the Latin market. He would join WWE’s Lucha Dragons and Alberto Del Rio as the major stars of that market.
There were reports of WWE feeling disappointed with Kalisto, but he had a strong showing in the WWE title tournament, and the Lucha Dragons are being featured on WWE television much more as of late.
There has been no news on La Sombra would wear a mask in WWE. A Luchador’s mask can be very marketable, but the initial feeling was La Sombra’s mask made him a generic luchador instead of the talent WWE believes he can be in the company.
