Ever since John Cena’s shoulder injury, the scramble to find The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania 32 opponent has been debated and rumored about within and outside WWE.
We know that Vince McMahon has advocated for Braun Strowman to fill that role and be the beginning of a monster heel push. However, that match has reportedly been scrapped due to poor reception within the company and there being a lot of backlash online.
It’s a match that Owens has publicly stated he’d be interested in having at Wrestlemania. According to WhatCulture.com, Owens pitched the match “hard” backstage, but it was confirmed by the Wrestling Observer that the match is not happening.
It’s not about a lack of faith in the former Intercontinental Champion’s ability. Triple H is said to be a major believer in him and sees him as the future heel of the company.
Apparently, Owens vs. Undertaker is just not where WWE wants to go creatively, and there are other plans for The Deadman at Wrestlemania 32.
