Last night, Raw held their first exclusive PPV “Clash of Champions” only a few weeks after SmackDown held their own “Backlash.” In the interest of competition, these two shows are going to be compared.
Before we move onto SmackDown’s “No Mercy” PPV and Raw’s “Hell in a Cell” next month, let’s take a few minutes to debate which brand had the better first exclusive PPV and is currently “winning.”
Well, SmackDown definitely had the better month of tag team wrestling. At “Backlash,” The Usos turned heel and Slater and Rhyno are the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Meanwhile, The New Day continue to dominate and that’s all there really is to report from “Clash of Champions.” Raw needs something fresh.
As great as it was to see Becky Lynch finally get the recognition she deserves at “Backlash” after winning the SmackDown Women’s title, Raw’s Women’s Division is just on a different level. Raw has SmackDown beat here, especially after the wonderful triple threat match last night at “Clash of Champions.”
First of all, we live in a world where WWE’s two world champions are AJ Styles and Kevin Owens. At “Backlash,” we had Ambrose vs. Styles, which culminated in AJ becoming the WWE Champion. That’s just such a big moment in wrestling that a very solid match from Owens and Rollins just doesn’t come close to matching that, especially after giving away the biggest moment of the year during Raw a few weeks ago.
Do you think SmackDown’s “Backlash” was better than Raw’s Clash of Champions?
