After weeks of the “Cruiserweight Classic” and the debut of Raw’s cruiserweights earlier this week, WWE has successfully brought back the Cruiserweight Division in a huge way, but there is a lot more work left.

Tonight at “Clash of Champions,” TJ Perkins will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Brian Kendrick, which is going to be a very strong match from two veterans. But, there could be some problems.

The fact is not every fan watched the CWC tournament. As insane as those fans are, it’s the truth. Because of that, the cruiserweights are going to be fresh faces without any context.

For example, a lot of people were surprised that TJ Perkins didn’t appear on Raw at all this week, but he will be making his debut on PPV, which is cool because it rarely happens on the main roster anymore.

However, a lot of people aren’t going to know Brian Kendrick tonight or anyone else that appears in the division over the next several weeks. Every single cruiserweight is impressive for a different reason, so they will all get cheered, the division will have few characters, and the storylines won’t be as engaging.

Overall, the excellent work being done in the ring won’t be as meaningful, which is unacceptable. Luckily, this is an easy fix. WWE just needs to start establishing faces and heels in the division to get the ball rolling.

Are you excited for Kendrick vs. Perkins tonight at “Clash of Champions?”
