It would be a massive understatement to say that Tye Dillinger’s time on the main roster has been wasted. Some people saw “The Perfect 10” as a potential star in NXT. Dillinger excelled in a “gatekeeper” role to help new stars get over in their debut. Over time, Tye became more popular as a babyface than nearly anyone on the roster during his tenure.
Dillinger was not given the opportunity to enter the NXT Title hunt, but his SmackDown Live debut seemed to be the beginning of a bigger push. Unfortunately, he was relegated to the midcard for the “blue brand” and has barely been on television over the past few years. He’s now suffered another huge setback to keep him from reaching his potential.

According to a report from PWInsider, Tye Dillinger is out of action with a hand injury that requires surgery. He’s reportedly already been to Birmingham to see Dr. Andrews for the surgery. As of this writing, there’s no timetable for his return to the ring. He has some luck that he wasn’t in a prime position, but an injury keeps that from changing.
The “Ten” chant is a simple and effective gimmick for a WWE Superstar to get over. It’s a perfect chant for a babyface and anyone who sees the value of the “Yes” chant can see why the Perfect 10″ gimmick works so well. WWE had a golden opportunity to become a top midcard babyface, but he can find new life as a heel upon his return. After all, it was his heel run in NXT that got him over in the first place. It could work on the main roster. aa
