5) “Match of the Year” No Nomination For Bayley vs. Sasha Banks
Granted, this opens up an entirely new can of worms that probably shouldn’t be opened. However, the NXT and WWE bridge should extend when it comes to what wrestling fans say over the summer. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks could have been “Rivalry of the Year” and won the “Match of the Year” twice.
At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and NXT Takeover: Respect, Bayley, and The Boss made history and put a giant spotlight on women’s wrestling. Years from now, people will remember Bayley vs. Banks as being far more important than Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker.
This was right at the beginning of the “Divas Revolution” for WWE. The two women stole Summerslam weekend from everyone and made history two months later by being the first female match to main event a PPV. That accomplishment was more than enough to at least be nominated. It’s a shame that it wasn’t given the honor.
