His brief appearance during Raw 25 proved that Stone Cold Steve Austin’s popularity won’t dimish over time. There’s a reason why the WWE Universe continues to hope he will have another match despite the fact he hasn’t wrestled in 14 years. Although that might be a longshot, it seems WWE officials are thinking of another role for Stone Cold.
According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a recent survey on the WWE Network gave the fans the idea that the company could create a secondary commentary team during some major events. Some of the options listed for the fans to vote on were Jerry Lawler and The Texas Rattlesnake, which is a very interesting idea.

Of course, this is just a WWE survey to gauge the fans’ interest in some ideas. However, a lot of people are taking this pretty seriously since the idea of Stone Cold appearing on commentary is a cool idea. As a color commentator, Austin would be able to utilize his personality to call matches and share his insight with the WWE Universe in a new way.
Aside from decades of experience, the Stone Cold podcast has proven that Austin uses the platform to showcase his unique perspective on the business. He would have to play by the rules of Vince McMahon, but it would be interesting to hear him have a definitive voice on WWE TV again. It’d be intriguing to see who would do play-by-play with him.
Most fans have rumored that Austin could be the new Raw GM, or return for a night of Stunners and shenanigans. However, Stone Cold on commentary is an idea that would most likely work. It’s just a rumor for now. If the fans vote heavily for it, WWE may ask him if he’s interested.
