Apparently, the viewership for the first episode of the “Cruiserweight Classic” was very good because there was a huge announcement made about the future of the cruiserweight style in WWE.
The WWE Draft isn’t until tomorrow night, and the brand extension isn’t official until after “Battleground,” but Stephanie McMahon made a huge announcement to hype up Raw for next Monday.
There has been so much talk about Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan becoming the General Managers of Raw and SmackDown tonight that a lot of people are overlooking that Stephanie announced the return of the Cruiserweight division to WWE programming.
The “Cruiserweight Division” will be exclusive to Monday Night Raw and offer a sense of identity and a different brand of wrestling that the WWE Universe isn’t used to. It’s guaranteed to bring in a lot of new talent as well.
The “Cruiserweight Classic” will showcase thirty-two of the best cruiserweights from around the globe for the tournament on the WWE Network.
Eight of them already had the opportunity to do so last week, and two of them were signed. Last week, WWE signed New Japan star Kota Ibushi and Mexico’s Gran Metalik to contracts. There are bound to be more soon.
Do you think the winner of the “Cruiserweight Classic” will become the new Cruiserweight Champion for Raw?
