You may not be aware, but the lead singer of the band Slipknot Cory Tayler is a wrestling fan. In a 2011 interview with Wrestling With Pop Culture, Taylor was quoted saying:
“I’ve been a wrestling fan since I was a kid. If you embrace it for what it is, which is entertainment, I have no illusions about the fact of if it’s real or not. But I know it’s physically taxing, and it takes great skill to make it look good and no skill to make it look crappy. I know the people who rise to the top are the best in the business, and it’s almost a metaphor for the music business. People come and go, but legends stay forever.”

As a fan, Taylor got the chance to get involved in the Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin match and become an unlikely ally on Friday’s show. Taylor and Corbin have been trading blows on social media for weeks leading up to last night. During the match, Corbin would get in Taylor’s face, and Taylor would finally get to give him a slapping blow to Corbin for real. You can see the shot heard ’round NXT below:

The slap received the biggest audience reaction of the match and allowed Samoa Joe to win the match. Joe certainly appreciated the assist from Cory Taylor. It was a cool moment on a good show for the NXT crowd, and especially for Slipknot fans.
