Not even twenty-four hours after “Battleground” and Bayley’s main roster debut, WWE held the first Monday Night Raw of the “New Era” and it was something to remember.
As much as people will be talking about Finn Balor after tonight, as many people will be talking about Sasha Banks becoming the new WWE Women’s Champion.
WWE has been building to The Boss vs. The Champ for a long time now. Most people speculated that it wouldn’t officially happen until “Summerslam.”
However, WWE decided to book Banks vs. Charlotte on the first Raw since the WWE Draft and set the tone for what Raw will be like for women’s wrestling.
Well, Charlotte and Sasha had a great match and raised the bar for women’s wrestling. Banks was particularly good as the Bank Statement got the best of Charlotte and caused the WWE Women’s title to change hangs.
Now, The Boss is the WWE Women’s Champion. The women’s division is now hers and this victory was a long time coming because the WWE Universe has been chanting “We Want Sasha” since last year’s “Summerslam.”
Well, now Sasha Banks is here to stay, and she is quickly becoming the face of women’s wrestling in WWE. A rematch with Charlotte is obvious, but who will be her next challenger after that?
