If you had asked anyone in the summer of 2010, Wade Barrett was a future WWE World Champion and potentially a top guy for the company.
Barrett had a tremendously successful WWE career if you look at his accolades, but you can’t help wonder about the potential that was never fully realized for a variety of reasons during his wrestling career.
A lot of people blame John Cena “burying” Nexus at “Summerslam” 2010 as a big reason why Barrett’s main event push never came to be, but he was in WWE for another five years. There were plenty of chances.
The most common reason for his lack of success at the top level of WWE was his list of injuries that caused him to lose several opportunities to thrive in WWE, but that’s all in the past.
According to a recent report from CageSideSeats.com, Barret, who’s real name is Stu Bennett, could be coming into Ring of Honor soon and it’s likely he’d be debuting with a huge push.
There are many opportunities for Bennett to reach the top level of Ring of Honor. He could easily throw his name into contention for the Television title or the ROH World Championship. The potential for Bennett to feud or join with Adam Cole and The Bullet Club is very interesting.
